Angel di Maria’s second half goal meant another Madrid derby loss for Atletico Madrid, the routine which has continued for 14 years now. The home side fizzled out in the second half as a Cristiano Ronaldo less Real tackled every threat with determination.

Radamel Falcao, did score in the 4th minute of the game to give Atletico an early impetus but besides that the Colombian’s touch was pretty average for the remainder of the game.

The game was full of intensity for most of the parts in both the halves with both the sides going for it after Jose Mourinho’s side had equalised from a Juanfran own goal.

A total of 8 yellow cards were dished out during the game by referee Miguel Perez.

Atletico Madrid starting line up – Courtois; Juanfran, Godin, Miranda, Filipe; Suarez, Gabi, Koke, Raul Garcia; Diego Costa, Falcao
Real Madrid starting line up –  Diego Lopez; Essien, Albiol, Carvalho, Nacho; Khedira, Pepe; Di Maria, Kaka, Morata; Benzema
