Real Madrid wins 2-0 but Borussia Dortmund reach the finals

[ad#m1] Santiago Bernabeu | 30 Apr 13 | Champions League, Semi Final, Second Leg

It was too little and too late as Real Madrid’s late resurgence saw them falling one goal short of a Champions League final spot at Wembley on 25th of May.

Borussia Dortmund, held their nerves, barely, as a frantic last 15 minutes of the game saw Real Madrid score two goals through Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos. One more and they would have reached the finals with the help of the away goal.

But it looks like, it was meant to be an all German finals with Bayern Munich almost through as well.

Both the sides, though, were mighty wasteful as Real Madrid missed many in the first half and Borussia in the second half and it all came down to last 15 minutes.

The defensive duo of Hummels and Subotic were excellent along with the goalkeeper Weidenfeller.

In the end, Borussia Dortmund were the better side over the length of two games and deserved the final spot.

Real Madrid starting line up – Diego Lopez; Essien, Varane, Ramos, Coentrao; Alonso, Modric; Di María, Özil, Cristiano; Higuaín
Borussia Dortmund starting line up – Weidenfeller; Piszceck, Subotic, Hummels, Schmelzer; Bender, Gundogan; Kuba, Götze, Reus; Lewandowski
