Bayern Munich vs Chelsea 2-2 (5-4 penalties) Highlights and Review, UEFA Super Cup

UEFA Super Cup finals at Prague turned out to be a mental affair. A crazy game of football with the last goal of the match coming on at stoppage time of the second half of extra time.

It was 1-1 after 90 minutes. Fernando Torres started the match and scored the first goal while Juan Mata was still stuck on the bench. Bayern came back strongly in the second half with Franck Ribery’s 25 yard bullet. Chelsea were defensively cohesive for the majority of the game but went down to 10 men when Ramires was sent off for Chelsea in the 85th minute. Chelsea, expected to park the bus but were extremely good on counters, despite having less numbers in the field.

Chelsea, then took the lead in extra time with a Eden Hazard special goal. The Blues held on for their lives as Manuel Neuer decided to leave his goalkeeping post and positioned himself near the center of the field. The Germans finally made a breakthrough, they left it late but managed to achieve in the nick of time through Javi Martinez.

Both Petr Cech and Manuel Neuer made impressive saves.

Penalties came and everyone scored except Belgian Romelu Lukaku. Someone should probably look after Lukaku, the lad looked gutted after missing that penalty.

Mourinho in the post match press conference said: ‘Even with 10 men we played fantastically. Pride is OK but we lost. We play for a long time with 10 men against a very good team.’

Crazy Jose Mourinho hand waving.
