Summary of the current situation can be read below:
1. Raheem Sterling held talks on Monday. He not only reiterated his desire to leave but asked to be omitted from the tour amid interest from Manchester City.
2. Whether Liverpool comply with the request is another thing though, as it would depend on an acceptable offer which should arrive before Sunday. Liverpool have already declined couple of offers from City, first one being a £25m offer rising to £30m and the second one, a £35m rising to £40m. The Reds maintain it would need an offer in excess of £50 million for the sale to happen.
3. Liverpool are also considering alternatives for Sterling with Barcelona winger Pedro being a possible target, along with Real Madrid’s Denis Cheryshev. It is also assumed that Liverpool hope to complete the signing of Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke irrespective of what happens with Raheem Sterling.
