Bullet point summary of the recent developments in the Raheem Sterling transfer saga, which took place overnight can be seen below:
1) Dave Maddock of the Mirror is reporting that Liverpool owners FSG are prepared to let Raheem Sterling rot in the reserves rather than let him go for less than £50m.
2) Manchester City have increased their offer for Raheem Sterling to £44m i.e. £40million plus £4m in add-ons. Although it is almost certain to be rejected.
3) Professional Footballers Association has said it is ready to mediate on the matter and Liverpool are open to the idea, so as to make sure the player is on the same page with the club. Similar PFA mediation took place in 2013 when Luis Suarez wanted out of the club.
4) Liverpool still expect Sterling to join the rest of the squad for the club’s pre-season tour.
So, as things stand, it looks like City are unwilling to match Liverpool’s evaluation of Raheem Sterling and the Merseyside club are also in no mood to take anything less than £50m.
Meanwhile, some Liverpool fan has taken it upon himself to oust the contract rebel as the player was seen listed on eBay!
