Dutch media claims ex Man Utd Robin van Persie is in ‘serious’ talks with Barcelona over a January move

According to Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad, the rumors of Barcelona looking to buy Robin van Persie from Fenerbahce are true. The Catalonia based club have spoken to the Dutch striker and they want him in January.

AD further reported that the move has gone beyind the ‘rumor’ stage and a winter transfer is a serious & substantive option for both the parties involved.

Barcelona’s Technical Director Robert Fernandez was also present at the Amsterdam ArenA to keep an eye at the Dutchman during Holland’s Euro qualifier loss against Czech Republic few days ago.

Barcelona want the former Arsenal & Manchester United forward to be a cover for the trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.

With Messi being injured and the sale of Pedro in the summer, Barcelona currently lack experience with their cover options and want Van Persie to fulfill the same. In a nutshell they want the Dutchman to play the same role Henrik Larsson played when he transferred to the Spanish giants from Celtic in 2004.
