FIFA, one of the world’s best-selling video-game franchises is all set to launch the 2017 edition of the game with the release dates set for September 27 (North America) and September 29 (Rest of the world).
EA sports periodically releases drip-feeds of info in the public domain in the run up to the official release. The top 50 players have already been revealed bar the exception of the top three (which we all know to be Neymar, Messi and Ronaldo).
Lionel Messi’s stats were leaked last Thursday with the Argentine assigned a 93 rating; a downgrade from the 94 last year. As the Ronaldo-Messi debate took centre stage with the leak, another interesting piece of information made the news.
Messi’s pass rating of 86 is bettered by Dimitri Payet who boasts a pass rating of 87. While it is true that the midfielder had an outstanding 2015-16 season with West Ham and France, marking him as a better passer than Messi certainly seems a little too generous on part of FIFA.

Baffled by the rating, England legend & main man Gary Lineker also had to take to Twitter to clear things up for simple-minded folks!
It's a game. It's not real. Messi is the best passer ever. They are taking the piss! Don't take it to heart. https://t.co/OSoDLjG9jI
