The last few months have been arguably the greatest time for a United fan since the retirement of SAF. An actual sense of direction and purpose were exuded by the hierarchy at the club with the appointment of a no-nonsense manager in Jose Mourinho, and the high profile arrivals in the form of Ibrahimovic, Pogba and Mkhitaryan. Along with the sensible buy of the capable and young Eric Bailly at the back, United has translated their successful transfer window into results almost immediately.
United went into the early international break maintaining a 100 per cent record, and placed third in the table on goal difference. All this has meant that the spotlight is on the first team, but the youth have been equal to the task as well.
Belgian whizkid Indy Boonen has been in top form for the United U18s, along with the highly rated Portuguese Angel Gomes.
The duo combined for yet another world class goal on Saturday, during the 5-1 thrashing of the Middlesbrough U18s at Finch Farm.
Gomes received the ball in midfield, quickly turning, and sighting the run of Boonen. The Portuguese youngster then proceeded to play the Belgian in with an absolutely stunning pass from the outside of the boot, reminiscent of Sneijder in his prime.
Boonen then controlled the ball with a brilliant touch before smashing it clinically past the goalkeeper with his left foot. Check out the full move below!
