What A Ball In: Newcastle United’s Matt Ritchie Bags An Inch Perfect Assist On International Duty

Relegated to English football’s second tier and consequently having their best players poached by other clubs, Rafa Benitez is currently grappling to get his side back in the Premier League. They currently sit 4th in the Championship, having won 3 and lost 2 of the first 5 matches.

There is some good news coming from the international scene however, in the form of a delightful performance from new boy Matt Ritchie during Scotland’s 5-1 victory over Malta.

The NUFC no. 7 grabbed 2 assists on the night!

He set up Scotland’s second goal, putting in a delightful ball from the left for Chris Martin to slide the ball into the goal. Filthy pass, check it out below!

There was another instance of his supreme passing when the Newcastle new boy slipped in a beautiful through pass which eventually resulted in being Scotland’s 5th goal and Robert Snodgrass’ hat-trick. Check out the video below!

Having shown immense trust in Benitez by opting to move from Premier League outfit Bournemouth to Newcastle for £12m this summer, the Toons faithful would be hoping that he keeps up the form for the club as well and gets them back to where they belong.
