Take That Gary Lineker: Arsenal Fan Keeps His Promise, Watches A Game In His Underthings After Mustafi’s Arrival

Arsenal ran out winners 2-1 against a determined Southampton side in dramatic fashion on match day 4 of the Premier League. Goalkeeper Petr Cech opened the scoring in the 18th minute, albeit at the wrong end, with the ball bouncing off of him into the goal from a Tadic free kick. Laurent Koscielny equalized for Arsenal soon after with an amazing overhead kick, and the winner came from a Santi Cazorla penalty deep in stoppage time after Jose Fonte was judged to have fouled Giroud in the area.

The match was a terse affair, with Southampton unlucky to not have come away with any points from the difficult away game. Although Southampton stole the onus of the match, with a well-organized defense, the limelight was initially upon the much awaited debut of the recently acquired Arsenal duo- Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez.

The players, recently acquired for a combined fee of 52 million pounds, made their Emirates bow on Saturday with both of them in the starting lineup. Mustafi impressed, looking assured on the ball and having more touches than anyone on the pitch, where as it was more of a debut to forget for Perez, with the Spanish striker failing to muster up any shot at the goal in the first half, and being taken off after a mostly ineffective 63 minutes.

However, it was a day to remember for a certain Arsenal fan, Lewis Davey. He had previously challenged the club on their ambition in their pursuit of transfers, even going so far as to say that he would watch the game at the Emirates in his underpants if Arsenal succeeded in landing the German defender.

And watch he did. As soon as the club confirmed the transfer, the official twitter account of Arsenal itself reminded the Gooner of his promise, and the man did not shirk away from his word, going on to watch the match on Saturday wearing just his underpants.
