On a blockbuster opening night of the Champions League, all eyes were on the most exciting match-up of the evening- Arsenal vs PSG. The French side dominated proceedings for the majority of the match while opening scoring within a minute of the start. But a late rally from Arsenal which saw Alexis Sanchez score a late equalizer meant the English side had snatched a point from a difficult away trip.
The match itself was fraught with underwhelming performances from the superstars on both sides. For Arsenal though, one of the best players on the pitch was one who many did not even expect to see in the starting lineup, 19-year old Alex Iwobi.
The Nigerian was energetic, elegant on the ball, showed courage and kept possession even when Arsenal were playing their worst. He succeeded in creating chances, and beating players too. One such run particularly stood out, when the youngster after receiving a pass near the centre of the pitch, proceeded to navigate into the box through a crowd of five PSG players. Rather superb run, check it out below!
The winger’s talent and footballing nous was evident for all to see; although his finishing needs to be improved, as he missed a golden chance to score the winner after being put on through by Alexis in the 83rd minute. That was the only dark spot on an otherwise strong showing by the teenager.
