It came as a surprise to many of the Tottenham fans when Mauricio Pochettino put highly rated academy graduate Nabil Bentaleb on the loan list. There were many suitors for the 21-year-old, but he eventually chose to join Bundesliga club FC Schalke in hope of playing more first team football.
The youngster has shown good form with his midfield display, having also been bestowed upon the #10 jersey of the club. His latest moment of brilliance came in last night’s 3-1 defeat against the in-form Cologne.
The Tottenham loanee received the ball outside the box after a scuffed clearance, then took the Koln defenders out of the game with a slide-rule through ball into the box for the veteran forward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. The Hunter, true to his name, finished clinically, scoring their only goal of the match. Although the young Algerian played well, he was unable to prevent his team from sliding to defeat.
