Jurgen Klopp and gegenpressing have become synonymous over the years. Klopp implemented the heavy pressing and counter attacking brand of football with great success while at Borussia Dortmund. His Dortmund side were terrifying when counter attacking, often obliterating opposing team’s defences with deadly pace and precision.
While Liverpool have yet fully to embrace the gegenpressing style of football, there have been encouraging signs emancipating out of Anfield since last season. Now 5 games into the new season and Liverpool have already scalped victories over Arsenal, Chelsea and reigning champions Leicester City while drawing away at Tottenham.
Liverpool’s attack in particular has been very impressive with the side creating a total of 72 chances in the league. That is more than what any other team in Europe has achieved this season.

Roberto Firmino has been the main man for the Reds so far with 14 chances created. The likes of James Milner (10), Gini Wijnaldum (9), Nathaniel Clyne (9), Philippe Coutinho (8) being the other main creators in the team.
They have also plundered 19 goals in 9 games across all competitions.

An even more frightening prospect of this Liverpool side is the fact that it is still adapting to Klopp’s system. Given a little more time to adapt, this Liverpool side surely has the potential to mount a serious challenge for the Premier League title in the coming seasons.
