Chelsea put up a woeful defensive performance in the London derby against Arsenal on Saturday, losing to their bitter rivals for the first time in six years, with an embarrassing scoreline of 3-0.
Antonio Conte was signed precisely to avoid and put an end to these type of horrendous defensive performances as Arsenal ran rampant in midfield and defense after being afforded time & space by the Chelsea back-line.
Individually, both of the Chelsea centre-backs failed to turn up at the Emirates – Gary Cahill was directly responsible for Arsenal’s first goal whereas David Luiz looked completely out-of-sync with his teammates. The Brazilian seemed counter-productive at times, ruining the defensive plans his fellow teammates were trying to execute.
With John Terry being on the wrong side of 35, currently the only solution for the Italian coach looks to be Kurt Zouma. The 21-year old has been sidelined with ACL tear since February, but the Frenchman has already got ample first team experience and definitely has the talent to improve the defence.
With Conte confirming that Zouma will be back by October 15th, the fans are looking forward to the return of their prodigal son.
The return of Zouma would infuse some much needed energy and youth into the Chelsea defensive ranks. His physical style of play could also prove useful and under the new coach, who knows, Zouma could even turn out to be the next Bonucci or Chiellini!

Recall Christensen. Play Zouma with JT when they get fit. Adios to Branna, Matic and Cahill. AND EVERYONE ELSE, PLAY FOR THE F*CKING SHIRT.

A one legged zouma and a 48 year old John Terry would still be better than Cahill and Luiz

Cahill did the same at Swansea, even though he was fouled. Too slow, need Zouma back as soon as possible.

@ConteTweets we need to bounce back, it will take time. This is why I said top 4 is realistic but Terry and Zouma are needed asap.

Our best defender is a right footed left back …zouma can't come back soon enough …might even consider playing mikel to help kante
