Newcastle United and Norwich City produced one of the most memorable matches of the season, in a 4-3 thriller at St. James Park last night. Both the sides have always had a freakish record with each other, especially in the recent times, with 20 goals being scored in their last three meetings.
The hero of the night was Newcastle forward Dwight Gayle, who scored the 96th minute winner as part of a superb hattrick on the night.
The Toon were a goal down, 2-3 in the 90th minute, when Frenchman Yoan Gouffran leveled 5 minutes into injury time. And a minute later, the new #9, Dwight Gayle struck the match-winner to send the Toon Army into wild and raucous celebrations.
The players did not seem to hold back as well. In what can only be described as something out of WWE, madman Aleksandar Mitrovic was seen snapping Gayle’s neck with a vigorous pull back and the Serbian than followed that by throwing the hat-trick man on the ground in all the excitement.
It was out of control with the rest of their team-mates joining in the pile-up. With the win, Newcastle United have now moved up to third in the table in their bid to earn promotion.
