The departure of Giuseppe Bellusci to Empoli this summer was met with cheers and jubilation from the Leeds faithful, which just about sums up the immense unpopularity of the defender at Elland Road.
The Italian often left fans frustrated with his poor decision making and lazy defending. Coupled with that, the defender also had a penchant for picking up cards on a regular basis throughout his two seasons with Leeds. There were also rumblings about the defender disrupting the ambience in the dressing room.
Despite all that, Serie A side Empoli took a gamble bringing the defender on loan for the season. And the Empoli board must now be surely lamenting that decision after the defender’s horror show against Juventus.
The defender was at fault for Juventus’s second goal with a poor tackle that got nowhere near Higuian who calmly avoided the tackle and went on to score. Coupled with that, the defender also got in an altercation with Miralem Pjanic where he ended up grabbing Pjanic’s throat (pic above) earlier in the match.
