Nemanja Matic has been one of Chelsea’s most important players under new manager Antonio Conte, but the rumour mill has gone into overdrive after he was spotted in Milan with his agent Giuseppe Riso.
The footballing world was eager to see what Conte’s plans for the Serbian was after the midfielder had a horrid time last season. The signing of N’Golo Kante was also seen as competition for the Serbian as they both play in similar positions.
However, Conte surprised everyone, by constantly starting Kante and Matic together and dropping the creative player in Fabregas. Matic was given more freedom to push forward from his defensive midfield role, and he seems to have done well in the position since.
And this weekend, Matic was seen in a clothing shop in Milan with his agent, which is seen by many as a precursor to a switch to Serie A champions Juventus, as a possible replacement for their former talisman Paul Pogba. (Source)
However, it could just be a false alarm, as he might have just been visiting his Milan-based agent. Come January, we’ll find out for sure.
