Chelsea FC made big news yesterday as the Premier League giants announced the signing of the most lucrative shirt sponsorship deal in their history with Nike.
As per the agreement, Chelsea will bag £60 million a year from the American Sportswear giant in a deal running till 2032.
The contract with Nike is one of the most lucrative shirt sponsorship deals in the world and second only to Manchester United in the Premier League who bag £75 million a year with Adidas.
Safe to say, the deal brokered by club director Marina Granovskaia is a colossal achievement for Chelsea. With Nike, Yokohama and Carabao, Chelsea will now get £110m per year from shirt deals alone.
The magnitude of such a deal was just about summed up by a fan on Twitter who pointed out the fact that club CEO Marina Granovskaia had made the announcement; this being just the third time in 20 years that Granovskaia had publicly commented while working with Roman Abramovich.
