It was almost a perfect week for the Toon, as they ran out 3-1 winners against Brentford on Sunday. They might be at a risk of being the Shelvey Show with the bald midfielder playing a part in all three of their goals.
One person who wouldn’t mind that is striker Dwight Gayle, who seems to be the beneficiary of all this creative influx, with the new signing being the current top scorer of the Championship season so far.
Besides the win, there was one another great moment of satisfaction for the Geordies, courtesy of their former midfielder Moussa Sissoko. The Frenchman has been on the wrong side of the Black-and-White Army ever since he ditched Newcastle for a high profile transfer to Tottenham, and the Toon must be gleefully laughing as they saw his performance this weekend.
The winger drove into the box with resolve, and everyone expected him to calmly bury the ball into the back of the net- but he miscued the ball horribly and shot almost 90 degrees away from the goal.
With even Spurs fans starting to question the 30-million-pound price tag, the Toon must be shaking their heads with glee at the overblown transfer fee they received.
