Celtic hosted Borussia Monchengladbach in the Group C clash on Wednesday and the German team ran out 2-0 winners on the night. The loss meant that Celtic now have a mountain to climb, if they are to qualify for the latter stages.
Two mistakes from Kolo Toure at the back saw Lars Stindl and Andre Hahn score to get the first points on board for the Germans. The Bhoys, predictably, are at the bottom of the group, with only one point from three matches. But even though they lost, Celtic fans showed their class with a surprising display of respect after the game.
There was a real sense of camaraderie in the stadium, between the overwhelming number of Scottish fans and the 3000-odd travelling fans, who made the arduous trip all the way from Germany to see their team play.
This was evident after the final whistle, when both set of fans were seen raucously applauding each other. It is moments like these that capture the true spirit and essence of football, and its power to unite those who could not be any more different.
