The appointment of Garry Monk as manager looks to be one of the decisions of the season, as Leeds qualified for the quarterfinals of the EFL Cup for only the second time in twenty years. They beat Norwich 3-2 on penalties after the match finished 2-2 in extra time.
The win was a difficult one and there was some real passion on show at Elland Road. The fans were raucous and the players spurred on as they fought back to level after Norwich went ahead twice.
Leeds had to play the whole of extra time with just ten men as full back Lewis Coyle was forced off with an injury and Monk having used all three substitutes already.
But the 10 players on the pitch took it to penalties, where goalie Silvestri became the hero after saving three of them.
And the camaraderie among the players was evident after Ronaldo Vieira scored the winner. In an absolutely brilliant moment, Luke Ayling was seen joining the wild celebrations with the injured Coyle riding piggyback.
