The last time Kasper Schmeichel was pictured in Copenhagen, he was dressed as Mr. Incredible for Leicester’s fancy-dress Christmas Party. On this visit though, he did not even bother to wear the mask but was incredible all the same as he salvaged a point for the Foxes.
Leicester could have sealed progression to the knockout stages with a win last night but a lackluster display by the forwards meant that the defence was left with a mountain of work to do.
And the local boy stepped up to preserve the defending Premier League champion’s pristine defensive record in the Champions League and single-handedly earned his club a point.
The warmth of the Danes towards Kasper Schmeichel was evident in the support he received in the country and on a board outside a local Copenhagen pub.
Akin to the Edinburgh pub which went viral after it referred Borussia Monchengladbach as ‘A German Team’, a Copenhagen pub hung a board referring Leicester City as “Schmeichel’s team”. Check out the picture below!
The Blues would hope that the Dane continues his run of form, as they look to finish the job, needing just a point for progression ahead of Club Brugge’s visit to Leicester.
