Throwback to the time when Man Utd fielded 7 defenders against Arsenal and still won 2-0 (Lineup)

The Premier League returns this weekend with Manchester United taking on Arsenal in the latest installment of their age-old rivalry. Even though United no longer are the force they once were, the clash is still one of the most anticipated, and has served up some fabulous ties in recent years.

One of the most memorable clashes, mostly for the United fans though, to have took place between both the sides was the 2011 FA Cup quarter-final.

SAF started an unprecedented seven defenders, in a bid to play on the counter. He utilized the speed of the twins Rafael and Fabio on the flanks, and allowed Arsenal to dominate the possession. And it turned out to be the masterstroke, as United saw off Arsenal with a 2-0 score line, Fabio and Rooney getting on the scoresheet.

Considering the inconsistent displays United have shown, it will come as no surprise if Mou tries something as drastic to stop his bitter foe Arsene Wenger.

Check out Man Utd’s starting lineup from the match below!

  1. Everton will meet Arsenal in today’s game played at Goodison Park Stadium. In their last meeting, Arsenal won the match with 0-2. I wonder if Wenger’s team prepared us with a surprise for today. Based on the past results of the two teams, I would expect for Arsenal to perform well during this meeting and win this game. It should be interesting to see if Alexis Sánchez will score during this match as he has a good average in terms of goals scored / match.
