While Emre Can has found himself warming the Reds bench for much of this season, that certainly hasn’t stopped the German international from endearing himself to the Kop faithful.

Following Steven Gerrard’s announcement to retire after a celebrated 19 years in the game, Can took to Instagram to pay his tributes posting a photo of him with Gerrard as he thanked the former Liverpool captain for his contributions to the club and football in general.

What got most fans though was not the tribute itself but rather the fact that the German had cropped out a certain Raheem Sterling in the pic he has posted.

Sterling has been an infamous figure ever since he signed for rivals Manchester City in 2015, so it came as no surprise to see delighted fans applaud the German’s actions on Instagram.
