From a club loitering in mid-table obscurity and ownership resentment off the pitch a few seasons ago, Leeds United have certainly undergone a remarkable transformation as they sit fourth in the Championship table.
Gary Monk’s team have been impressive throughout this season and really do look genuine contenders for promotion this season. A big part of this has been down to the impact of the summer arrivals in the likes of Pontus Jansson, Kyle Bartley, Hadi Sacko, Luke Ayling and others.
Perhaps no other player better epitomises Leeds performances this season than Pontus Jansson. The defender has captured the imagination of the fans like no player has done in recent times. The passion, the work rate, the effort and his rapport with the fans has been a real joy to watch.
Against Aston Villa last weekend, Jansson was again at his best; even while celebrating Kemar Roofe’s opener against Villa. The defender was seen pumping his right arm wildly celebration with the Leeds fans. Such passion is one reason why he is a fan favourite.
