After moving Alexis Sanchez to the centre-forward role has no doubt made Arsenal a different side this season. The fact that Arsene Wenger is willing to go out and win games by any means necessary is a refreshing change in mentality that has also helped them greatly.
Arsenal’s performance in this season’s Champions League is wholly reflective of that. Drawn into Group A, their only roadblock to the top spot was PSG. However, they ended the first round of the tournament undefeated, sitting on top of the table having won four and drawn two games.
Football stats website WhoScored recently revealed their team of the Champions League Group Stage, and Arsenal were well represented with two players. It’s telling that Barcelona were the only other side to feature more than one player in this line-up.
