Andre Villas-Boas’ time in England won’t be looked back on too fondly by many. Seen by some as the next top manager in world football, the Portuguese manager is currently working for Chinese club Shanghai SIPG. That’s quite the fall from grace for a man both Chelsea and Tottenham saw as being a top manager.
Whilst some of his problems could be blamed on sheer bad luck and naivety, there were many times when he didn’t help himself with his outlandish ideas. This was the subject of discussion on a BBC Radio interview with ex-Spurs man Jermaine Jenas.
The now-retired midfielder turned pundit had some interesting things to say about his ex-manager. Perhaps the most amusing revelation came when he mentioned that Villas-Boas didn’t let players work out in the gym at all, a decree that had a profound effect on a former Spurs striker.
