Ever since making his debut two years ago in the Champions League against Partizan Belgrade, Harry Winks has made a gradual ascent to the first team at Tottenham Hotspur.
Unlike his fellow academy graduate Dele Alli who rocketed to fame last season, Winks despite his apparent talent has slowly developed under the radar at Tottenham.
This season however promises to be a defining one for Winks as he becomes more and more involved with the first team. The 20 year old midfielder has been duly praised for his superb passing range, calmness and composure in the middle of the park.
This obviously has drawn comparisons to Luka Modric, a former Spurs player who since then has gone on to become one of the best midfielder in the game today.
Comparisons with the Croatian surfaced yet again after Winks’ performance in Spurs’ 3-0 win over Hull City midweek. While it is still a tad too early, it indeed is high praise coming from the Tottenham fans.

With a sense of proportion of course, there are shades of Luka Modric about Harry Winks. Hard to deny him starts for much longer… #thfc

Haven't seen a Spurs player dominate a game through passing ability like Winks vs CSKA since Modric left… The man has to start. Don't @

Winks is a real talent, hopefully he is given plenty of game time this season. Without going over the top, he fits the Modric role.

I really like the look of Harry Winks on the ball. If he continues to improve he could be the closest thing we've had to Modric

Harry Winks tonight looked like the Modric replacement we have been crying out for, hope he can replicate it against better opposition! COYS

Early days I know but Winks reminds me of Modric. Does all the simple things so well, dictates tempo and is stronger than he looks.
