Newcastle United has a reputation of recognizing talented youngsters and nurturing them into budding footballers. Apart from a modest football academy, the club’s scouts are also famous for spotting immense potential.
One signing for which Newcastle’s scouts deserve a raise has been Callum Roberts. The 19 year old winger, who was loaned out to Kilmarnock FC just three days ago on 9th January, made an instant impact and lived up to the hype around him during his new team’s 1-1 friendly draw with Gateshead FC.
After conceding early in the 18th minute, Kilmarnock were looking for an equaliser which never came despite several close chances. It was in the 36th minute when Roberts grabbed the limelight on his debut by curling home a sublime strike with his left foot from 25 yards out.
