The latest controversy to rock football has been the big money instances of poaching of well established players by Chinese outfits from clubs all across Europe.
Backed by filthy rich corporations, Chinese clubs have shocked fans and clubs alike after luring in some big names like Oscar and Tevez.
Another player whose name was dragged into the foray is Chelsea’s top scorer Diego Costa. The Brazilian born Spanish striker had been reported to have received an irresistible offer of a move to Chinese side Tianjin Quanjian in lieu of an outrageous weekly pay amounting to £576,000.
Chelsea fans waited with apprehension as manager Antonio Conte dropped the striker from the squad for Saturday’s Premiere League encounter against Leicester City.
But to the delight of Blues fans, Brazilian ESPN’s journalist Joao Castelo-Branco has put speculations to rest by claiming that Costa has “no interest in China at the moment.”
