Granit Xhaka has been caught in a storm recently following his sending off during Arsenal’s thrilling 2-1 win over Burnley on Sunday. The midfielder was shown red for his two-footed lunge on Stefen Defour in the 92nd minute, leading to Burnley’s late equalizer.
Although he faced heavy criticism by Arsenal faithful and former players alike, including a royal lashing by club legend Thierry Henry, Granit can now thank former Gunner and his Swiss compatriot Johan Djourou for publicly defending him.
When a fan, while commenting on an Instagram picture, sought the player’s removal from the club, Djourou absolutely shut him down by claiming that the victory was more important and that Granit gives his everything for the Arsenal shirt.
Not content with the that, Djourou popped up on the comment section of the official Arsenal Instagram account to defend himself from trolls & spammers after his comments defending Xhaka.
