Manchester United’s good run in domestic cup games continued as they coasted to an easy 4-0 victory over Wigan Athletic. Despite a few changes to the side being made – with Jose Mourinho looking to give some of the younger players a run out – they had no issues dispatching the Championship side.
The fact that Mourinho chose to give some of the younger squad players some game time was a positive move, since United have some good young talent and the Special One has copped some flak for not playing the kids as often as he possibly should. What many missed, however, was that they weren’t the only kids getting a look-in at the stadium.
United U-18s Angel Gomes and Aidan Barlow were both watching from very close quarters, although the reason many missed them was because they were on ball-boy duty. Nevertheless, it would have been an exciting moment for the two talented players.
