It has been a rough start of the year for the Merseysiders, with 3 consecutive losses resulting in their elimination from both EFL and FA Cup. In this respect, last night’s clash against Chelsea was extremely important.
A win would not only have cut the gap at the top of the table but would also have provided the team with a much-needed confidence boost. They had to settle for a point eventually, with Simon Mignolet making a crucial penalty save 14 minutes from regulation time to keep Liverpool’s title hopes alive.
But equally heroic was the role of Gini Wijnaldum, whose close headed equaliser provided Liverpool with a draw they most definitely deserved, and also brought back to life many fanatic Liverpool supporters.
But it looks like some of the away supporters weren’t thrilled at the prospect of going home with just a point, and they showed their strong opinion towards the Anfield hero by throwing a beer bottle towards him, whilst he was celebrating his goal.
