Celtic extended their unassailable lead on the Scottish League to 25 points yesterday after securing a 1-0 win against Aberdeen.
Without any proper strike force in the squad, Celtic initially struggled during the game, but a goal finally came in the 57th minute after Scott Sinclair’s freekick was headed in by Dedryck Boyata.
This was Boyata’s second goal in a week, and the Belgian has been taking some major strides towards establishing his name as a permanent defender under Brendan Rodgers following Jason Denayer’s exit from the club.
Apart from the manager, however, it is the fans’ approval for Boyata that is looking more evident, and Celtic fans proved this last night by converting Billy Joel’s classic ‘We Didn’t Start The Fire’ tune into a fantastic chant of their own, which goes – “We didn’t sign Denayer, but it doesn’t matter, cos we signed Boyata!”
