The last time Liverpool won a game, they were in 2016. Since then, the Reds have dropped down from second in the league to fifth, crashed out of both the FA cup and League Cup, and there is now a general mood of disappointment surrounding the club, after the hype in the first half of the season.
There is no definite reason for this incredible slump. It seems as if all the squad problems that Klopp’s tactics were able to disguise before the turn of the year have suddenly surfaced and are there for everyone to see. Even the comeback of both Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho has not produced the result Reds supporters want.
And so the upcoming game against Spurs is massively crucial. A loss can result in them being overtaken by hated rivals Man Utd, a team they once lead by nine points in this very season.
The team knows that, and Klopp’s boys have been training hard preparing for the game. Anxious Liverpool fans would feel more confident after Phil Coutinho, the main cog of the team, was spotted giving a thumbs up as he arrived for training at Melwood.
