If there is one manager who loves to cause clamour off the field, it is Manchester United’s Jose Mourinho. From Arsene Wenger to Pep Guardiola: Mourinho has had them all in his crosshairs before.
The opposite of Mourinho is Antonio Conte. Although the Italian can be passionate along the sidelines, he usually carries with him a calm and composed demeanour. And that is exactly what earned him huge respect recently.
Conte’s tactics were attacked by his Chelsea predecessor Jose Mourinho post their draw with Burnley. The Portugese claimed that his former employers win games by being “too defensive.”
When asked for his take on Mourinho’s accusations, a more mature Conte replied with class by simply refusing to get drawn into the argument at all.
Chelsea drew 1-1 with Burnley today and yet remain on the top of the table by 10 points.
See what Conte had to say about Mourinho’s jibe –
Conte on accusations by Mourinho that Chelsea win by being defensive: “Yeah, but I don’t like to reply to other coaches.”
