When Jan Vertonghen was diagnosed with damage to his ankle ligaments in the middle of January during a Premier League game against West Brom, many were rightfully anxious. The Belgian defender had formed something of a proper partnership with Toby Alderweireld; however, Vertonghen’s injury looked long-term.
Despite his injury, Tottenham looked fine for the most part, winning games and even climbing to second on the table. However, a recent loss to Liverpool in which they were completely outplayed by Jurgen Klopp’s men shows that Vertonghen might be needed back sooner than expected.
Thankfully for Spurs fans, that seems to be the case as Vertonghen was pictured in training alongside the rest of his team-mates. In fact, Mauricio Pochettino said that the defender might just be in line to make his comeback during Spurs’ FA Cup tie against Fulham.
