Manchester United’s EFL Cup win over Southampton will have come as some form of vindication to the Old Trafford faithful. Despite a rocky first season under Jose Mourinho, the fact that he has already guided the team to silverware is an encouraging sign, especially for the future.
Naturally, United players were in the mood to celebrate and perhaps go a little crazy with champagne. However, Eric Bailly shot Antonio Valencia a thoroughly disapproving look as the right-back approached him with a bottle of bubbly. Getting the hint, Valencia decided against spraying him with champagne.
It eventually turned out to be a ruse as the Ivorian defender proceeded to douse Valencia with champagne when the right-back’s guard was down. He then proceeded to hose anyone near sight, proving that a trophy win can drive even the best of players a little mad with joy!
