Manchester United’s win in the EFL Cup final provided the club with its first silverware of the Jose Mourinho era. Whilst the Portuguese manager has been under the media scanner for the club’s constant struggles, this trophy is a sign that there is still life left in the battle-tested manager.
And he will undoubtedly have his critics and detractors; it’s just the way it works. However, the EFL Cup win seemingly angered a Southampton fan to the point wherein he felt the need to both voice and show his displeasure in a way that is questionable at best and rude at worst.
As Mourinho was going up to collect his winner’s medal, the manager walks past a Saints fan who lets the world know what he thinks of the Special One by loudly calling him a wanker. Then to further drive the point home, he makes the wanker hand sign as Mourinho walks away, clearly disgusted at the gesture.
