Newcastle United moved five points clear on top of the Championship table with a 3-1 win over Huddersfield at John Smith’s Stadium last night.
A Matt Ritchie penalty helped the Magpies take a lead early in the game before Daryl Murphy added another to the scoresheet with an angled finish.
Mooy pull one back for Huddersfield in the second half by soring a calm penalty following Shelvey’s foul on Kachunga.
Despite several good chances, the game was eventually snatched away from the home side during stoppage time after keeper Coleman misjudged a bouncing ball and Newcastle’s Dwight Gayle marked his return from injury by tapping the ball into an empty Huddersfield goal.
And it was Jonjo Shelvey’s reaction to Dwight’s finisher that probably sums up how Newcastle have bulldozed all Championship teams to reach the top spot this season.
