Manchester United will gamble on the future of their European dreams this season with a long trip to Russian outfit FC Rostov’s Olimp-2 Stadium tonight.
While the poor conditions of the pitch have irritated manager Jose Mourinho to a great extent, a small band of 400 United supporters will be accorded a very warm welcome, quite literally.
The city has a reputation of unpredictable weather that can get painfully cold during this time of the year, and Rostov fans have decided to keep the visitors from Manchester warm by handing out red blankets at the away turnstiles.
I’m told that a group of FC Rostov fans will be at the away turnstiles handing out red blankets to United fans tonight. Fair play.

Keeping in mind the much-awaited World Cup that Russia is all set to host next year, a statement issued by the Rostov supporters’ body said that the move is aimed at improving the reputation of Russian fans, who had drawn flak for organized attacks on English supporters during the Euro Cup last year.
