Although calls for Arsene Wenger’s exit from Arsenal have been common phenomena for the past few seasons, Gooners have never voiced their opinions as strongly as they are doing this time.
While there also exist some fans who are still not ready to let Wenger go, ex-Liverpool star Jamie Carragher presented a strong opposing view recently.
Carragher heaped praise on Wenger for his 20 year-long contribution to English football, but rightly pointed out that this popular opinion might change if he stays at the club any longer.
The former defender also claimed that Wenger’s exit won’t bring Arsenal tumbling down because “they won before he arrived and they will win again in the future.”
Countering supporters who refer to the Frenchman’s legacy while making a case for his continuation, Carragher argued that, past glory aside, Arsenal’s current sorry state of affairs should prompt Wenger to leave himself, because “nobody in football wants to receive sympathy.”

Will the house come tumbling down without Wenger? No. They won before he arrived and they will win again in the future. What a job this will be for someone with new ideas.
