The international break is a time for even club managers to unwind a little. Whilst they will continue to take regular training alongside the players who aren’t away on international duty, they can afford to take it a little easy because there is no game to build to, at least not on this weekend.
However, when Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was spotted in the Croatian city of Zagreb, many thought he was there to get a head start on any summer transfer dealings for his side. The fact that he was spotted constantly talking on his mobile phone only added fuel to the fire.
But the man himself spoke to the Croatian press recently and he clearly stated that he not there for any transfer dealings. Rather he wanted to some time off from his schedule, meet some of his friends and simply enjoy the sunny weather of Croatia as he preferred it to the rainy weather of Manchester.
See the translated quotes from the man himself here:
I do not have a hidden objective, I came here to enjoy the time off. Visit some good friends like Mijatovic and Suker. I know everyone thinks that I came just to look at some players, but in today’s football you do not need to travel somewhere to see some players, I know them all already. I’m just here as someone who wants to relax in the sunshine, not rain as in Manchester
