Now you see him…
Alexis Sanchez may have been fined for reaching speeds of over 150 kmph on the road a few days ago, but Venezuela probably feel he deserves another sentence from the way he harassed their defence last night.
Chile emerged 3-1 winners in World Cup qualifying in a match where they could easily have doubled their tally. Sanchez was on target as Los Rojos ran roughshod over their opponents and it wasn’t just the goals that caught the eye from the tie.
A six-second clip of a dazzling piece of skill from the Arsenal forward has gone viral online. As he received a long ball over the top near the by-line, Sanchez brought it down with an excellent first touch before he momentarily slipped.
Just as his marker, who probably couldn’t believe his luck at the fumble, closed in to sweep things up, the Chilean not only recovered but pulled off an elastico that Ronaldinho would be proud of. The Venezuela defender, needless to say, looked about as daft as possible as he stuck out a foot which was only met with thin air as Sanchez rushed past him. Magic.
