‘The City’s All Ours’: Everton fans’ banner for the clash against Liverpool on Saturday (Photo)

Few games can match the thrill and excitement that derby fixtures provide, and one of the most notable ones in this regard is the one played at Merseyside.

There is a long history between Liverpool and Everton, and a lot will be up for grabs when the two clubs face off for the 228th time at Anfield on Saturday.

A victory for Liverpool will help them keep their Champions League hopes alive, while Everton could further their chances of a Europe League spot with a win over their neighbours.

Jurgen Klopp faced a jolt with Lallana and captain Henderson being ruled out yet again, but will look forward to welcome Daniel Sturridge back after almost a month.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman, on the other hand, will play without the services of Coleman, Funes Mori and Schneiderlin.

The Reds have lost just one of their last 20 encounter against the Toffees, but confident Everton fans have sounded the bugle first this time by staking claim over the city with the banner (via @GoodisonHQ) shown below.

  1. We are the bitters.

We live in the shadow of our neighbours.

    They have more fans.

They have double the number of league titles.

We have never been champions of Europe, they have been 5 times.

They’ve won more cups than us.

We never beat them, they beat us for fun.

We are a skid mark on their illustrious history.

We would rather draw and they lose than us both win.

Coz we’re Everton aren’t we. A true turd of a club.

    We are the bitters.
