In Hallowed Company
Maradona, Ronaldinho… Dembele?
Ask any football fan for a list of the greatest players of all time and the first two names here would be obvious inclusions – but Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino considers Moussa Dembele in the same company as one of the five “genius players” he has come across in his career.
The Belgian has undoubtedly been one of the Premier League’s most criminally under-rated players for years. His incredible box-to-box capabilities finally have a suitable stage at the heart of a Tottenham team making a concerted push for the League title.

Pochettino’s comments have been predictably met with some scepticism but it needs to be noted that he also mentioned Ivan De La Pena and Jay-Jay Okocha in his short-list – both maverick players with unique talents.
Supporters were quick to acknowledge Dembele’s quality with many alluding to how he could have been a world-class player if he had the right mentors early on.
The ex-Fulham man certainly seems to be making up for lost time however, so you would not bet against him lighting up the pitch as Spurs take on Burnley later on today. He knows he definitely has his manager’s confidence.
