Liverpool’s win over Everton in the Merseyside derby was definitely something the Reds needed. Not only did it give them three much needed points, it also gave the fans and players a boost.
A win over rivals is always special and as the tail-end of the season approaches, any sort of momentum is good.
Lucas Leiva starting that game was a move that was born out of necessity due to the injury issues being dealt with by Jordan Henderson. And whilst hopes weren’t high for a great performance from the Brazilian, he put in a decent shift during the game, even notching up a rare assist in the process.
The fact that he enjoyed the win was evident in the tunnel after the game. As he was walking in and shaking hands with members of the backroom staff, he yelled “Get in lads!” in the most hilarious way possible.
However, it did provide a glimpse into the passion the midfielder still possesses for the club.
