Sky Sports’ monumental cock-up while revealing Celtic’s lineup for the Partick Thistle game last night (Screengrab)

Celtic won their sixth consecutive Scottish Premiership title with a thumping 5-0 win over Hearts despite eight games still remaining last week.

The title of league champions itself should surely mandate a considerable amount of attention for the Hoops, but then even the basic requirement of scrutiny in reporting seems to have escaped Sky Sports recently.

While telecasting a preview of Celtic’s game against Partick Thistle last night, Sky Sports made a big mistake that is totally unexpected from a reputed channel of their stature.

The Celtic line-up on the TV show listed Brian Ellis as the squad’s 12th man, when Ellis was, in fact, included in the official line-up for winning team-sponsor Magners’ part of the squad contest.

What is even more embarrassing for Sky Sports is that Ellis’ name was specifically mentioned as the 12th man in Celtic’s official line-up, but the channel reported his name as a member of the squad alongside Patrick Roberts.
