Liverpool overcame their injury concerns in style to continue their run for a top-four finish with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Stoke City today.
Liverpool’s problems were exploited by an unmarked Jon Walters who helped Stoke take the lead due to some lacklustre defending by the Reds in the first half.
It all overturned within the span of just two minutes, though, after substitutes Coutinho and Firmino came on in the second half to seal the victory in their team’s favour.
While Liverpool lacked finesse in the attacking department until the Brazilians’ arrival into the game, they surely had their defences secured due to keeper Simon Mignolet’s moments of brilliance in the goal.
The Belgian shot-stopper produced some great saves to deny the likes of Charlie Adam and Saido Berahino from scoring for Stoke City.
And as an acknowledgement of Mignolet’s crucial contribution, this is how manager Jurgen Klopp celebrated the victory with the goalkeeper after the game –
