Chelsea legend Michael Essien is making players run for their lives in Indonesia (Video)

Spoiler alert! If you thought friendly games were peaceful think again.

Former Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien recently made the surprise move to Indonesian club Persib Bandung on a one year deal after being released by Greek club Panathinaikos.

The former Ghanaian international has over the course of his career represented the likes of Chelsea, Milan and Real Madrid winning several major club honours. Despite making the move to a virtually unknown league, the 34 year old nicknamed the ‘The Bison’ for his energetic displays in the middle of pitch, showed the football world he was not be forgotten as he was involved in a terrifying hit and run case on the pitch when playing in a friendly.

In the tie against Bali United, an opponent deliberately kicked the ball into Essien’s thighs from close range, which prompted a furious reaction from the Ghanaian as he started to give chase after the opposing player.

What made the incident even more comical was the sight of the opposing player, Bali’s Yabes Roni running away from Essien looking genuinely terrified.
